Looked an hour ago and you were still looking for a home. Now it says you're rehomed. That was quick work. Must be because of how lovely you look in the paddling pool and Rosie's glowing reference. Good luck in your forever home. x

Sam had a paddle in the pool this afternoon and he had a teddy to play with, he enjoyed throwing him around. :)) His stay with Rosie and Paul has been good for him. His wonderful personality is beginning to emerge. Hoping so much he will soon find his perfect home. Xxx

It was nice to see Sam again this morning, and his confidence has definitely improved. A little unsure at first, as I was really a new face again, we soon had the waggy tail back.

This lovely chap is in need of his forever sofa - preferably with a sweet little girl already on it! Big cuddles handsome. xx

Lovely Sam is back at the kennels after spending a few days with Rosie and her family. He is such a great lad and in the right home he will flourish. He would probably be happier in a home with another dog to keep him company...he does like the girls! Xxx

Sam was playing with me this morning!! So happy :)))) He is so pleased to see me when I come downstairs (we have to move anything that might get swished off the coffee table with his windmilling tail!!) and then he was play bowing and did a couple of fast circles with his bum tucked in. He’s having to go back to the kennels tomorrow so please someone take this gorgeous boy home and develop the wonderful relationship that is waiting. He loves people once he has the confidence and will be really loyal and such fun Xxx

Sam came to the kennels with Rosie today. It was lovely to see him. He was a little wary when he first arrived but absolutely loves other dogs and his tail wagged madly when Katie brought Monty in to have his nails trimmed, :)) Xxx

Sam’s doing well. Apart from every morning when he seems to have forgotten that he was ok with me fussing him the day before, he’s not moving away as much. I’ve found that if I sidle up to him sideways rather than walking towards him or putting my hand out, he just stands and waits for the fussing. Not that I look daft doing that!! He’s learning manners very quickly too - moving away from our food if we say no. And there was slight progress in him getting into the car today as he jumped his back legs in by himself once I’d lifted his front legs in. Made it much easier for me! He is a gorgeous boy and I can’t recommend him highly enough :))

Sam was much better today. Eating all his food with no problem and reminding me how tall he is by appearing in the kitchen when I was making our tea, and his chin can almost rest on the work surface! He had a little run in his sleep earlier too which is the first time I’ve seen :)

I forgot to say yesterday that we met a couple of dogs in the park on our walk and Sam just had a sniff until one of them started to jump around and then he got excited too. No walks today as he had his neutering op and had 14 teeth removed. He’s feeling a bit sorry for himself tonight poor lad. Hopefully he’ll perk up tomorrow and his tail will start wagging properly again and not just the little wave that we had tonight :( xx

He’s definitely starting to get cheeky! He barked at Paul this morning because Paul didn’t put his breakfast down quickly enough for him, and then stood and barked at him while Paul ate his sandwich at lunchtime. I assume Sam wanted some as he does enjoy his food :)) He went to Paul for some cuddles today which is the first time, but again only comes for them if we’re sitting down. But he did get close enough to sniff my hand when I came home from work today which is braver as I was still standing up xx

So Sam’s been with us for a couple of days now and his confidence is slowly improving. He started off lying in his own safe place at one end of the room away from everyone, and now he’s started to lie on one of the beds near us. He’s happier to come and say hello if we’re sitting down rather than standing up and this evening, he’s had some lovely cuddles with me. He seemed amazed by the wide open green space in the park yesterday. He’s a very inquisitive boy and I think may become quite cheeky once his confidence has built up! He’s a gorgeous lad xx

Oh Sam, what a big adventure for you - some time in a foster home. I know it will be very scary for you, but you will get to learn all about the outside world and what happens there and it will hopefully prepare you for taking your place in your very own forever home soon. Be brave my lovely, you are safe so enjoy & learn lots! xxxx

How I wish I could take Sam home! He has a sore paw today and wasn't able to join the others for walks. :( He does enjoy their company.
However, while everyone was out he was spoilt with a custard cream or two! He actually came and took them from my hand. Xx
He met new people today and although still very shy he did get off his bed to almost say Hello. :))
Before I went home tonight he came out to go to the toilet and we had a little play which saw him play bowing and even giving a few happy barks! We also had several cuddles! :) He is absolutely adorable. Xxx

Sam’s bravery is increasing. He reached across to sniff my hand today, although it was very brief. His body really wants to say hello - his tail wags like mad when you go near him. But his head is really not sure and not yet brave enough! He is such a lovely boy and loves to see the other greys and really perks up. He’d make a really good brother for another grey :))) xx

I sat with Sam for a bit today. He has come on again in the two days since I last saw him. Today he came and stood next to me and had a little lean and later lay down next to me very relaxed. He is such a lovely boy and just needs a bit of time to get to know you. He will make a very loyal pet xx

Before I went home tonight I let all our residents out into the small runs for one more wee. Linford had sadly needed to go before I could let him out..but it didn't take long to clean out his room. :))
I went into the run say hello to Sam; he amazed my by following me around the run, so I walked a bit faster until eventually he was chasing me, tail wagging. it was great! :)) I agree with Liz, the person who gets to take Sam home will have a very special lad. :)) Xxx

Sam has come on a lot since I last saw him. When you go and speak to him, he clearly wants to be your friend, but doesn't have quite enough confidence just yet. I'm sure he is going to make a brilliant companion for whoever takes him home. I can fully imagine that once he gets to know you, he will be totally devoted to you and be the best dog ever xx

I have Sams big half sister Lottie and she too was a little anxious to start with but now you would not guess this on the fund raiser days she now will happily go up to strangers and do the famous greyhound lean. In the right environment I am sure Sam will thrive and gain his confidence and some luck person will have a fabulous grey.

Sam, sounds like a big adventure in the sand run for you yesterday - well done! The big scary world is getting a little bit better every day isn't it, and sounds like a furry friend would help you even more.

You get my virtual cuddle today - and a real, gentle one on Friday if you are still with us. xxx

Ruth, Lauren and I went in the sand run with Sam this afternoon. He had a little run around and gave a short chase to some of the toys. Tigger came in to have a play with him and he did have a run with her. He wasn't so keen on coming out of the run :) Tig did her best to round him up! After a few minutes he allowed Ruth to take him gently by the collar and came out with no trouble. He does seem to like being around other dogs, especially when going on a walk. Maybe there is a Greyhound brother or sister out there who is looking for a gentle addition to their family? Xxx

What a contrast from yesterday when I opened up the kennels this morning. The gorgeous Sam, although still very wary, didn't back away and let me pop a slip lead on him to bring him out into the feeding run.

Bless him, in true Greyhound fashion he trod in his poo!!! and needed his paws wiping before he could go back into his kennel and his nice clean bed. With a quiet, gentle approach he let Michael hold his head whilst I cleaned his paws and he was very good - no panting or straining to get away. I was as quick as I could be so we didn't overwhelm him too much, but Michael was delighted when Sam leaned on him before letting him lead him back to his kennel - and this morning was the first time Sam had met Michael.

Well done Mr Sam - so very brave and already, after such a short time, gaining in confidence. We will take it at Sam's own pace, but I am certain that this beauty will be an amazing companion in the right home. You can tell he wants to be your friend - but is very unsure if he should!!! He has made progress already - well done handsome. You get my cuddle today - keep up the good work. xxxx
