I shall miss you at home Flash. You settled in well over the 5 days you were with us and your cheekiness was starting to show itself. I think once you have your paws under the table in your new home and your confidence has built up, you’ll be very playful. Have a wonderful life with your new family xxx

Flash popped into the kennels with Rosie this morning. I got the chance to give her a cuddle and wish her a happy new life. She will be off to her new home tomorrow! She has been a firm favourite with us all during her stay at Daybreaks. She had her X-ray earlier this week. The results didn't show anything untoward. She does have a plate and several screws holding her leg together but the vet said all looked ok with them. Her exercise will need to be limited to what she is comfortable with and she may need pain killers from time to time, but she should still be able to live a very happy retirement. :)) Xxx

Flash has come home with me tonight, ready to have her hock X-rayed tomorrow. She was very unsettled for the first couple of hours but has now found a duvet to lie on and have a good sleep xx

Flash had a lovely time running around the kennels with Tig and Momma when we were locking up tonight :) She was very interested in the treats the residents were receiving before bedtime :)) She certainly wasn't shy about asking for one too! She is a really lovely girl. Hoping her leg will soon be feeling much better. Xxx

Sounds like this little lady is really benefitting from some home TLC. Hope all is well with her hock when she sees the Vet, and that she can go to her forever home soon. xx

Unfortunately I couldn't get Flash seen at the vets until Thursday morning so I will keep you all posted. The swelling has gone done a lot more and she is very content laying on her duvet with Momma in the kennels office today as I have brought her to work with me! She is adorable x

Flash is absolutely adorable! She was quite stressed last night on arriving home to be faced with Tiggy, Momma and 4 chickens!
Despite this, she ate her dinner and took treats from me.
I brought a soft crate home which she alternated in hiding in, or sitting on our window seat.
During the night I heard movement..... how she managed it, I do not know but she had tried to drag our massive lounge rug into her crate, along with my work boots, numerous toys and one of our wooden chairs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Anyhow, I persuaded her to go outside but then she wouldn't come back in..... so hoping not to give the neighbours a shock I tiptoed out and she came in! Phew.......
This morning, she suddenly appeared in our bedroom doorway having mastered the stairs and she has had breakfast, a treat and is keeping Momma company. Her leg seems a little less tender today and she is weight bearing a bit more but I am taking her to the vets tomorrow to just get it checked to be on the safe side as the site of her hock injury has been quite swollen. I love her!

Flash's leg was very swollen today and she wasn't able to go for a walk
:( She really does need someone who will nurse her back to health.
She needs a nice quiet home where she can grow in confidence. I'm sure she would like a four legged new sister or brother to be her friend....Klaire I think you tick all the boxes!! Xxxx

Well Shanishoo that’s a crafty plan! Will have to see if my sister will be a co-conspirator! Longingforagrey - it’s at least 3 and a half hours from our house to the kennels, if TC said yes I would of course load the car immediately to get to the kennels ringing Ruth, Kate or Jo en route! Xx

This is a tough one then, other than just going for a long drive on your own via Birmingham I'm not sure what else will work. What if Russ came for a visit and just brought Flash along for the ride?, I'm sure he would have to give in then. Good luck xxxxx

Is there a chance you might need to take Florence to the kennels for any other reason soon? Hopefully the two of them would bond and he wouldn't be able to say no. Plus how good do their names sound together!

Why don't you just say you just want to foster Flash until she fully recovers from her injury that's all, then maybe he won't be able to give her back. And say that Florence is really lonely and she needs some doggie companionship - anything is worth a try!!!! Xxx

Klaire, i say just do what i do...just bring the animal home, they then fall in love after spitting their dummy for a while (think that bit makes them feel like they're in control-but that's ok, let them feel this for we know the truth!) Then they want them to stay and its 'their idea to keep them' then...see I've got my husband well trained and worked out...this is assuming TC is a person lol?! Xxx

So, I put on my best upset voice and told TC about Flash and your injury, “no one will want her, She’s got a broken hock and needs the reassurance of a sister like Florence”. The response “ I’m sure they’ll find her a good family”. So I tried “I’ve got so much love to give it’s either another greyhound or I’ll have an affair”. TC “please don’t”. Me “which does the “please don’t” refer to?” TC “both, give more love to Florence”. Me “that’s not possible”. So no luck there Flash! I’ll keep trying. Xx

Hi Klaire, hopefully this may work on TC!

Flash is gorgeous, she was very nervous, but when I called her name on Wednesday she was very responsive, wagging tail and kisses on your hand. I sat in her kennel and got a kiss on the nose!

She is limited to short walks as she suffered a broken hock, this must have been quite a recent injury as you can still see the scar from her op.

She is still very cautious of people she doesn't know, we feel she would benefit from a home with another dog who can show her the ropes, someone just like Florence. Florence could give her so much confidence and show her people are lovely, not scary and they give lots of love and affectation.

She is such a sweet girl and I'm sure that once settled you wouldn't even know she was there!

Come on TC, at some point you will have to relent, make it sooner rather than later. Good luck Klaire! Xx

What a difference with Flash today, she was in the feeding run when I arrived. I called her not expecting she would be brave enough to come to the bars and not back away. Straight to me with waggy tail and a kiss. What a lovely brave girl, I sat with her for a while and she leaned over and kissed my nose! She is adorable. Xx

Flash is such a lovely girl...she is now getting off her bed to come and see you. :) She does love her food and when she has finished her meal will sit up the corner of the run like a "real" dog! I think this is because she is nervous and she wants to keep out of the way. However she does like her ears being rubbed. :) Xx Diane took her out on her own yesterday and she coped very well. We still feel she would be happier with other doggy company when she goes home. She brightens up when she sees one of the other dogs, boy or girl. She met our resident cats Socks and Tike yesterday, she was great with them. Socks was very happy rubbing around her back legs! :) We will be testing her again in a couple of days. Xxx

I have yet to meet this little stunner, but having read in other comments that Flash is recovering from a broken hock, I just want to reassure potential adopters not to overlook this beauty. Flash's Grandad is our Brae's Dad; Brae suffered a broken hock during her racing life and we didn't think twice about fostering then adopting her. Yes Brae walks slightly differently to other greyhounds, but that's her 'trademark'. Brae's never let that injury hold her back and from the age of 5 when she chose us until now aged 11, she's still living life to the full, keeping up and often overtaking other furbabies she's walking with. Please, please, don't overlook Flash, if determination runs through her blood line, she'll have it in heaps. Biggest hugs gorgeous girl, Tash xxx

Lovely Flash is a very nervous girl at the moment. However she did venture out of her kennel when I left the door open before I went home tonight. She had a wander down the corridor before running back to her bed. :). She is very sweet and gentle and will take a treat from you. Xxx

I met this pretty little girl this morning and my goodness - what a nervous little bean she is.

She did eat her breakfast though, and then sat in the corner of the feeding run like a "proper dog" until I had finished cleaning her kennel bless her.

Still a youngster, she needs time and patience and a furry friend to show her the way - she gets my cuddle today. xx

I agree 100%with Alan that Flash will be far happier in a home where there are other dogs. She was very nervous when exposed to A45 traffic this morning but gained reassurance when we walked her in the middle of the group. She enjoyed the walk in the fields down the lane and the attention of Linford who had definitely taken a strong liking to her. A nervous girl who hopefully will become more confident in a dog loving home

Flash...Ahhhh...saviour of the universe! Well not quiet but this lovely Flash came along with Lucy this morning and she is a little unsure of her surroundings at the moment and wonders whats going on. I told her not to worry as she will be loved and cared for at Daybreaks while she waits for her forever home. Having got back to Daybreaks Flash did start to come out of her shell a little, I'm sure there is a happy little girl in there trying to come out and play. It will be nice to watch her settle into kennel routine and begin to flourish. I hope a nice comfy sofa is just around the corner for her. Perhaps a home with a confident dog will help her too xx
