Let the Stars Shine Again

Saturday 21 Sep 2019

by Shanesmum

Updated: Saturday 21 Sep

Following on from the very successful event last year, we are having another evening of remembrance and celebration for all our beloved hounds that have gone to Rainbow Bridge.

For all those attending there will be a candle in a special holder for you to light and whilst we tuck into baked potatoes under lantern lit gazebos, I am sure we can share great memories and stories of happy times.

Your donation of £5 will include a jacket potato, your candle and glass candle holder and all profits will go towards Daybreaks Trust which raises money to directly help the improvements at Daybreaks Kennels, making the stay for those lucky enough to come to us for rehoming as fabulous as possible.  The evening will be from 6.30pm til 8.30pm and parking will be available at the Birmingham Exiles Rugby Club where you can walk directly through into the sand run.  Please park at the top end of the car park near to our gate.

There will be a raffle for a beautiful Richard Skipworth design collar, kindly donated by Lynne Male in memory of her beloved Bert who sadly went to Rainbow Bridge before he could get to wear his new collar. Our new line of Daybreaks merchandise will also be on sale.

Additional candles and glass holders can be purchased for just £2.50 and if you can't come along but would like us to light a candle in memory then we are more than happy to do so.

If you would like to come along please book (for catering purposes) or if you can't, but would still like to support our event please call the kennels on 0121 782 7702.

I want to say a massive heartfelt thank you to everyone for making our second Stars Shine evening a success. A big thank you to Angie and Jo for organising and to the many volunteers including Seana, Shirley, Richard, Maggie, Andy and EVERYONE who helped make this a wonderful evening. Thank you to those who couldn't make it but had a candle lit in memory. Seeing the photos on facebook - it looked lovely. A big thank you also to Tracey at Small Heath ASDA for supplying all the jacket potatoes and tin foil - it cut our costs so more money can help Daybreaks.

I was heartbroken to miss this but look forward to next year when we celebrate another year of light in our lives with those who are with us now or have left us - 2 and 4 legged. Ruth xxx

A massive thank you to everyone who came along tonight. It was a beautiful balmy evening, and the candles burned brightly for all those we remembered.

It was great to see so many of our ex residents come for a visit, and lovely to catch up with friends too.

We were just so sad that Ruth was too poorly to join us, she was so upset. We all send her our love and healing wishes.

Thank you again for your support, we are so very grateful.

Angie x

Time's marching on and our remembrance evening is now just less than 4 weeks away!!

We've decided to start the evening at 6.30pm and have the candle lighting ceremony at 7.00pm, giving you the opportunity to then stay and chat for as long or as short a time as you like.

Tickets are now on sale at the kennels so give us a call and do come and join us for a special evening.
